A week in Curaçao is enough to feel, taste and absorb the island. Here's the ideal route, with Guesthouse Fuik as your home base.
Day 1: Arrival & Acclimatize
Pick up your rental car at Hato Airport and drive 25 minutes to Guesthouse Fuik. Settle in, take a dip in the pool, and let the island sink in. Evening: a casual dinner at Piazza Curacao on Jan Thiel (5 min).
Day 2: Jan Thiel Beach
A full day 5 minutes from your apartment. Sunbeds, clear water, SUP rental. Lunch at De Heeren. Sunset: a cocktail on the beach.
Day 3: Explore Willemstad
15 minutes to the capital. The iconic colorful houses of Handelskade, the floating bridge, and the floating market. Lunch at Marshe Bieuw for local food.
Day 4: Caracas Bay & Snorkeling
7 minutes to Caracas Bay. Snorkel by the pier, see the historic fortifications. Bring your own snacks. Afternoon: relax by your pool.
Day 5: Westpoint Adventure
A day trip to the west side. Stop at Grote Knip (Kenepa) — the island's most beautiful beach. Continue to Christoffelpark for a hike. Back to Fuik for a BBQ evening.
Day 6: Diving or Try Diving
Curaçao is a top diving destination. Book an intro dive or guided snorkel at a dive school on Jan Thiel. Dolphins and sea turtles are not uncommon.
Day 7: Slow Morning & Departure
Sleep in, take a last dip, coffee in the garden. Check out with late checkout (for direct bookings). Drive to Hato, or extend your stay — because a week is really too short.
Tips for the route
- Rent a car — public transport is limited
- Go early to the west-side beaches for shade and tranquility
- Bring plenty of water and sunscreen
- Download offline maps — coverage outside Willemstad is patchy
